If my laptop has a presentation on it; can I connect to the evidence distribution system in the courtrooms?

Yes.   Each counsel table has 1 VGA input per table.   An additional VGA input is also available on the podium.

  • Please test your laptop prior to your court date to ensure that it is able to push video to an external source.  Most laptops have this feature built-in, but others require additional software to achieve this result.

I am unfamiliar with the Technology available to me in the courtrooms how can I receive training?
The U.S. District Court invites counsel to call chambers prior to court proceedings and to visit the courtroom they will be practicing in prior to the courtroom proceeding.  We encourage you to bring your laptop, documents, or any other evidence you plan to present with your case.  We also encourage those who have not previously attended to attend one of the Courtroom Technology Training Seminars.

Will Court personnel assist me with getting my presentation working with the system?
Yes.  We will assist you if arrangements are made BEFORE your court date to test your equipment or practice with our equipment.  Court personal will not fix or modify your laptop or personal equipment to work with our system.  We suggest that you bring computer support for any technology for which you are unfamiliar.

What if a piece of equipment fails during trial or isn’t available when I come to trial?
We make every effort to keep the equipment functional in the courtrooms.  However, at times courtrooms experience disputations.  If this occurs during a proceeding, we will do everything possible to resolve the problem quickly.  We encourage you to arrive before trial starts to insure that all equipment is functional.   However, trial will not be postponed for technology reasons.  Be prepared, if necessary, to present without the equipment.

I would like to use a piece of equipment that’s not in the courtroom; can I bring my own with me?
Yes.  If you have large projector screen or special audio device you may use that instead of our equipment.  However, you must check with the Judge prior to your proceeding for approval.  In most cases our system has the ability to integrate with the majority presentation devices.  i.e. projector, tape player and etc.

I have to arrange a Video Conference, what should I do?
To schedule a video call you must first check with the courtroom deputy for the Judge’s approval and to schedule the call.  Our video conference system is the latest technology and is compatible with most other video conference systems.  However, we can not guarantee compatibility with other systems. Because there are many different protocols and hardware versions of video conference equipment available, you MUST make a test call into the court before your proceeding date to ensure compatibility.
